Dear the wulf. community,
As many of you might be aware, the wulf. will likely be moving by the end of next year at the latest. We are currently looking for a new home and there are some exciting possibilities on the table. We will keep you posted as things materialize. Regardless of the outcome, it looks like the wulf.'s operating costs will likely double at the very least.
To be transparent: one of the wulf.'s primary expenses is the rent. Currently, each of the people that lives here pays $700 per month, while the organization pays $490. We project that we have enough funds for approximately 8 more months at our current location. But at the point that we need to move, our rent will skyrocket. In order for us to weather the current real-estate climate, we need all the support we can get. It will be essential in ensuring our sustainability and without it, there is the possibility that the wulf. will need to shut its doors. We see this as an opportunity to make the wulf. less dependent on the residents of the space. We must find a space where the residence of the those who run the wulf. are more separated, both physically and financially. Please help us continue.
Our goal this year is ambitious: $20,000 or more. The most helpful way to donate is through a monthly subscription. You can subscribe above or at http://thewulf.org/membership/. One of our fundraising goals is to reach $400 more in monthly subscriptions.
All events hosted by the wulf. will remain free. In our 7 years of operation, the wulf. has become well known as a home for the radical. the wulf. is a unique and necessary fixture within the arts community of Los Angeles and abroad. On top of being an important force in the global new music scene, the wulf. has also become an experiment in community and alternative economies, where the hierarchical is subverted in favor of the democratic; ad hoc, yet deeply invested in providing the perfect setting and situation to promote new art of the highest quality. We feel confident that this model, which has resulted in over 280 performances in 7 years, will continue to result in the performance of great music and the innovation it entails by virtue of its openness.
Our email list is almost 900 strong, and our Facebook page has 1900+ likes. If everyone on the list donates $10 to $20, we can reach our goal of $20,000. Or if you are feeling generous, perhaps we can nip this problem in the bud quickly. We dislike asking for money, but it is necessary.
